Peretola Airport

Florence's airport is called Peretola because of the florentine zone which is situated. It was inaugurated in 1930 and it provides national and European links. It is one of the main airports of Meridiana air company. In 1990 it took the name of Amerigo Vespucci, a famous Florentine merchant. In late 1999 projects for restructuring and enlargement began, in which departures and arrivals terminals, the aircraft parking areas and areas dedicated to the operational and commercial management of the airport were added.

Transport Florence Airport - Florence City Centre

If you arrive in Siena by airplane but land at the Florence airport, take a shuttle bus to the Florence Santa Maria Novella (S.M.N.) central train station (it takes about 45 minutes), where buses leave for Siena every hour until 19 (it takes about 1 hour an 15 minutes). The Volainubus airport shuttle and the bus ATAF n. 62 connect Amerigo Vespucci airport with Florence town centre. Tickets are avaible on board for 4,00 euro.
