Chianti is a hillside that rises between 250 and 800 meters above sea level, with slopes also considerable, and largely covered by forests. The territory lies between the provinces of Florence and Siena.

It's famous all around the world to be the land of Chianti Wines, one of the most famous Tuscan wines label.
Chianti has always been, and still is, a wine producing area, that's why you can find many wineries, vineyards and olive trees around. The wine production is a tradition that has ancient roots: the first notarial document which talk about Chianti wines dates back to 1398.

Besides the charm of the countryside that defines the beautiful landscape of the area, you will also find various historical castels, churches, towns and villages dotted around the place.
The Chianti was founded by Etruscans and civilized by Romans. In medieval times was scene of battles between Siena and Florence, and that's because in Chianti you can find many towers and castles, abbeys and villages, which were transformed into villas and residences in peacetime.

You can reach and travel Chianti area by foot, mountain bike or horse, but also driving around by car from one village to another, passing by various farmhouses and castels.

Chianti Classico includes the entire municipalities of Castellina in Chianti, Gaiole in Chianti, Radda in Chianti, and partly those of Castelnuovo Berardenga, Poggibonsi, Barberino Val d'Elsa, San Casciano and Tavarnelle Val di Pesa.

Thanks to its peaceful environment, many people from all around the world chose to live in Chianti, between them we can find famous actors and directors, or singers like Sting.

Since almost half of the area is covered with woods, it is a great place to do some outdoor activities, but of course, the most important thing to do while in Chianti is to enjoy some of the high quality food and wine products where this region has become so famous for!
